About this bike...
The story behind these is stranger than fiction. Hand brazed of Columbus tubes by Dave Moulton later famous for FUSO, for John Howard (fastest man in the world on a bike) and financed by J David Dominelli (San Francisco’s Bernie Madoff of the 80’s). Well picked Campagnolo components and hand assembled by Shaw's Lightweight Cycles in 1984 in San Marcos, California.
With one owner, this bike is quite a find and the bike still in decent condition with only a few spot where you can spot some little dot of rust. The paint has been maintained well overtime and you will hardly notice little cosmetic scratches from afar.
About the build...
The frameset was carefully welded by Dave Moulton with Columbus Acciaio Cro-moly Tubing and painted by him. Fork has a beautiful shiny Chrome.
The limited edition frameset was carefully hand built in 1984 in California with a Full Campagnolo 2 x 6 speed Groupo, Campagnolo hubs (with grease ports) laced with Mavic G40 Rims for clincher tires (newer Vittoria Zaffiro 700x23 tires installed recently). The cockpit stays Italian with a Cinelli 110 mm quill stem and a Classic Cinelli 42 cm center to center drop handlebar wrapped with a black Cinelli bar tape.
Notice the holes on the Campagnolo Brake Levers! A weight saver back then.
Lastly, the pedals are original Campagnolo with the addition of newer Christophe Toe Cages and some MKS Black Leather Toe Straps.
Geometry
The bike is a 58 cm center to top and a 57 cm center to center.
The top tube measure only 56 cm, head tube 15.3 cm and the estimated standover is 82.8 cm in the center of the top tube.
