Hello! I'm Steve Clausse, also known as the "Belgian in Vegas."
Born in Belgium, I grew up in a cycling family—my parents ran a bicycle shop in Belgium and later in the South of France. You could say I was practically "vaccinated with a bicycle spoke" (as we say in Europe)!
Cycling runs deep in my blood—my mom won silver in the Belgian Track Championship, and my dad was an elite racer with over 100+ King of the Mountain titles and 84 elite race victories. Naturally, I followed in their footsteps, starting my racing journey in 1981 at just six years old. I competed from cycling school through the late '90s as a professional road cyclist, securing over 100 victories across three continents. My global travels helped me master English and Spanish, which later paved the way for my work in cycling product import/export.
With 25 years of experience in the bicycle industry—from shop employee to sales manager—I’ve dedicated my life to cycling. But life has a way of evolving! After marrying Michelle in 2014 and raising four kids, we made the move to Pahrump in 2022, just an hour from Las Vegas.
And here’s the thing—Pahrump is growing fast, yet there’s no dedicated place for cyclists to get their bikes fixed or pick up essentials. That’s why we launched a new business aimed at filling this gap. Over time, we’ll expand into bike shop services, sales, rentals, and Gravel Bike Adventures. I also continue to run my eBay store, which has been going strong for 19 years.
What is VELOBAZAAR?
I wanted a name with a European flair—something that reflects both my background and my vision. Inspired by the bustling markets of the South of France, where you can find everything from food to art to unique goods, I landed on VELOBAZAAR:
- VELO means bicycle in French.
- BAZAAR (or Bazar) refers to a vibrant marketplace, often filled with diverse and discounted products. It also sounds a bit like bizarre—which to me, evokes the thrill of finding great deals on used goods.
VELOBAZAAR is my new online boutique, offering new and pre-owned cycling products at discounted prices. Plus, we’re passionate trail runners and gravel cyclists, so you’ll see us out on the trails too!
